WHO WE ARE
The Long Island Paddlers
A friendly group of over 300 people residing from Manhattan to Long Island's East End, who have found that paddling kayaks and canoes brings us close to nature, the beautiful waters surrounding Long Island, local lakes and streams, and those in New York's neighboring states. We enjoy the water and each other's company on day or weekend trips that club members plan. There's no substitute for the kind of ongoing, friendly information we share with each other so that we can enjoy the sport to the fullest.
Local waters that we paddle include the Great South Bay, Moriches Bay, Peconic Bay, Long Island Sound and its harbors, as well as rivers such as the Nissequoque, Carmans, Peconic and Connetquot. Some of our out of state trips include the Thimble Islands, CT, Nockamixon State Park, PA, and the Assateague National Wildlife Refuge, MD. We have kayakers, people who canoe, and some who do both. More than one member has built his own boat and will proudly share how it was done. Water cleanups are organized throughout the year to help keep our environment healthy.
