Stand Up Paddle Boards

Jim Dreeben, of the Peconic Paddler, will talk about Stand Up Paddle Boards (SUP) - including their history, the reason for their popularity, the different types of boards, and the costs of getting started in this rapidly growing pastime. If you have ever thought to yourself, "What the heck?" after seeing a person standing up on what looks like a surf board propelling himself or herself along with a very long single bladed paddle, this meeting is for you.

Lighthouses of Long Island

Bob Allen the Lighthouse Guy will be our guest speaker at our October 19th General Meeting. He is the great-grandson of the Keeper of the Light at the Cedar Island/Point Lighthouse in East Hampton and the Bug Lighthouse in Orient. He is also a member of the Long Island Lighthouse Society, a chapter of the United States Lighthouse Society, and serves as their Cedar Island Lighthouse Historian and Tour Director.

Olaf Malver, owner of the Explorer’s Corner, is scheduled to be our guest speaker at our November 16th General Meeting. He will be showing slides and talking about some of the exotic kayaking trips his company offers.
